Education - The Diamond Valley ARTS CENTER
Education is an integral part of what The DVAC does. And, it comes in several forms. We have partnered with the San Jacinto Unified School District to provide qualified art instructors for the After School Education and Safety (ASES) program. The instructors travel to individual schools to work with the students. The program has been in place since 2010.
Every summer The DVAC hosts several educational programs. MUSICA!, one of our Organizational Members, presents are a 3-week Summer Strings Academy in June. The training is for both beginning/intermediate and advanced students of all ages. The Academy concludes with a concert by all participants. Scholarships are available. Available for students of elementary age, is a Summer Art Camp which runs daily through the month of July. The newest addition to our Summer program is a theater clinic for students age middle-school and up. Details for these educational opportunities for this summer are available by following this link.
Other types of educational opportunities offered by The DVAC have included a Saturday guitar workshop provided through a grant from Former Riverside County 3rd District Supervisor, Jeff Stone, Osher Lifelong Learning classes offered in association with the UCR Extension, Music Master Classes presented through collaborations with MUSICA! and the Hemet Community Concert Association, another of our Organizational Members, painting workshops and an art exposure series called, “I’ve Always Wanted to Try That” intended to give people first-hand experience with different art forms.
In addition to these traditional types of educational programs, we are continuously advocating to local governments, civic groups and individuals, the importance of a strong emphasis on arts & culture for economic prosperity and a balanced Quality of Life for the community and its residents.
